Miraculous Recovery for Doctor

Ebola Drug ZMapp Saves Americans

Americans Dr. Kent Brantly and Nancy Writebol have likely been saved from the Ebola virus thanks to an experimental drug given to humans for the first time, ZMapp from Mapp Biopharmaceutical, Inc. CNN reports that Brantly, who was near death, had a miraculous recovery shortly after receiving ZMapp. Writebol's response to the drug wasn't as miraculous, but she received a second dose and is recovering. Three vials of frozen ZMapp were flown into Liberia last week. The drug, which had to be thawed naturally for up to 10 hours, was given to Brantly just in time. He had developed labored breathing, and doctors thought he was dying. Shortly after receiving the drug, Brantly could breathe and a rash disappeared. The next morning, he was strong enough to shower himself and be evacuated to the U.S.
