Viagra As Possible Weight-Control Aid?

Researchers at the University of Bonn in Germany report that the drug sildenafil, known more popularly by its commercial trade name, Viagra, may not only act to offset the weight-gain produced by a fatty diet, but can also boost the body's conversion of white fat cells -- bad -- into brown fat cells -- beneficial. It was previously found that lab animals that were fed Viagra along with a high-fat diet were less likely to become obese than a control group, and the new research finds that Viagra speeds up the rate at which white fat, the kind associated with belly flab and poor health, is converted into brown fat, which is known to burn energy and help maintain a healthy weight. Researchers caution, however, that Viagra is not prescribed for the purpose of weight control. Indeed.
