1 Sexual Performance Anxiety Leads to Cheating

Sexual performance anxiety is one reason people cheat on their partners says a new study. Men who are easily sexually aroused or are risk-takers are also more likely to be unfaithful. Predictably, for women, dissatisfaction with their current relationship may lead to infidelity. This is the first study of its kind to find that personality traits and interpersonal factors are more relevant predictors of infidelity than are gender, education and marital status. The study involved 506 men and 412 women who reported on their relationship status, demographic and sexual personality variables. While the rates of infidelity were similar for men and women (23 and 19% respectively), personality characteristics best predicted men’s infidelity versus emotional satisfaction for women.

Functional Dystrophin Produced

2 New DMD Drug Targets Defective DNA

An experimental drug called AVI-4658 works by “patching up” a DNA deletion in the gene encoding for the protein dystrophin which allowed it to produce a shorter yet functional version in young boys who suffer from Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Dystrophin makes the protective membrane protecting muscle fibers from damage and death. Boys with DMD progressively lose mobility and face an early death. After in vitro and animal studies showed promise, it was tested for safety in 19 mobile boys aged 5 to 15 years with the condition. Seven patients had increased dystrophin levels and none experienced side effects during the three months of treatment. Researchers hypothesize that higher doses will result in enough dystrophin production to prevent muscle degeneration.
