Grumpy Folks Abusing Hearts
People with Type D personality are pessimistic, anxious, irritable and secretive with feelings, and a new study has revealed that they have higher risks for cardiovascular problems, says MSNBC. While Type D personality doesn't cause cardiovascular troubles, heart patients with the personality type are more likely to have more heart problems after the first episode, and they're less likely to respond to treatment. Compared with the average heart patient, patients with Type D personalities had three times greater risk of experiencing future cardiovascular problems like peripheral artery disease (PAD), heart failure and heart attack. These people also had a greater risk of requiring a bypass or heart transplant. Findings were published in Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes.
